Step By Step Instructions Are Included In All Kits.
Still skeptical about your painting skills.... Review the instructions below, then order the kit you need!
STEP1: SHADOWING TECHNIQUE (Flat Black)
Using the flat black paint, lightly apply large and small randomly shaped patches every few feet. These areas should range in size from 3 – 4 inches in width to 1-2 feet in height. Be careful not to apply the paint too heavily as patches are simulating shadows.
STEP 2: BARK PATTERN APPLICATION (Flat Dark Brown)
Place the stencil over the area you wish to begin.
The top corners of the stencil will be taped to the surface using electrical or masking tape. The electrical tape will allow easy removal and can be reapplied several times.
The stencil should be applied length wise so the break-up pattern is vertical in appearance. The edges of the stencil should over-lap each time so that the pattern seems to be continuous.
While applying the paint do not sweep the gun. Keep the gun perpendicular to the stencil this will reduce over spray and keep the pattern sharp.
STEP 3: ORIGINAL GRASS PATTERN APPLICATION (Khaki or Desired Color)
Note: New Reelfoot Grass Stencils can be randomly rotated as they are placed to get the desired effect.
Using the grass stencil as you did with the bark pattern, attach the stencil to the surface using electrical or masking tape at the corners. Apply the pattern using Khaki paint or whatever color you desire for the grass. For additional depth in the grass randomly spray areas of the stencil lightly with a medium brown. This is done before moving the stencil to the next location. To obtain a bush effect continue to paint over the same area moving your stencil 1 to 2 inches each time in between paint application. A few seconds to a few minutes may be needed before re-applying the stencil over a freshly painted area.
1. Apply the break-up pattern as described in the general instructions (including the shadowing technique).
2. Place the thicket pattern at the desired angle on the equipment using tape and apply Dark Brown paint.
3. Before moving the stencil shadow the twigs with a light dusting of medium brown on the pattern for desired highlights.
Leaves
Place the leaf pattern where desired using electrical tape to hold the stencil in place. It is extremely important that the stencil not move once you start the following paint sequence:
1. Base coat all the leaves on the stencil with the flat Khaki paint.
2. Using a flat Medium Brown quickly spray the center of each leaf on the stencil with a single pass to create an over spray effect.
3. Using the flat Dark Brown quickly spray the center of each leaf on the stencil with a single pass to create an over spray effect. This pass will be closer and tighter than the first pass of medium brown.
4. Lift the stencil and the leaves should have a three dimensional look as pictured below.
